People are ingenious at making old places new. As older industries have faded, new uses have been found for some of our industrial heritage.

This modest red brick building housed the Swindon Works’ weighbridge. The weighbridge could check the weights of locomotives, carriages and wagons when they were empty and full.

A dramatic transformation has taken place.  In August 2011 the Weighbridge Brewhouse opened its doors as a restaurant, bar and micro-brewery, a vibrant and popular venue which showcases Swindon’s industrial heritage.

What old buildings have been transformed for new uses near you?
