Celebrating Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee, 1897 Celebrations at Kewstoke for the Coronation of George VI and Queen Elizabeth, 12th May 1937 Royal celebrations in Glastonbury Collectable memorabilia was also very popular such as this mug made at the Wesuma Ware potteries in Weston-Super-Mare in 1937 In Taunton, a Mug was given to every child by Taunton borough council to mark the coronation of Edward VII in 1902.

For centuries, local people across the country have enjoyed coming together to celebrate special occasions.

In Somerset, people organised street parties, pageants and family gatherings to mark royal coronations and jubilees.

Some towns and businesses even issued their own commemorative memorabilia, particularly ceramics, for the local community to own.
